Telemedicine: skirting obamacare
More and more people are finding that their healthcare has not gotten more affordable with the affordable care act (aca). Some people fall into the coverage gap, others may not qualify for a subsidy. They later fall into a largely under-reported group: people who had coverage pre-obamacare, but have now let that coverage lapse because they do not qualify for a subsidy and premiums under aca are simply unaffordable (from 2013 to 2015 we've seen premium increases of 200%-300% on average). These individuals are now choosing to pay penalties instead of maintaining their coverage. With this in mind the telemedicine community is surging.
